MWO Company Ranks System Ideas

Hey all,
As a few of you already know, the company in MWO has a total of 23 ranks (as of writing) spanning from private to colonel (which includes warrant officer ranks). Because we have so much flexibility, I wanted to get some ideas for how we should handle promotions and the sort. The only 2 rules I want to keep in place is that recruits will only have the rank of private until they complete their trainee period (upon which they will be promoted to private 2) and the actual officer ranks (lieutenant through colonel) will be reserved for members with actual jobs in the MWO or general Phantoms community. Otherwise, anything else should be fine.
