Guide for New Trainees Empty Guide for New Trainees

Welcome New Trainee!

My name is Firecrafter and I am the administrator of the Phantoms of the Aces community.  This post will explain the steps that you should take in order to successfully complete your trainee period and gain full membership in our community.

The Trainee Period
The trainee period is designed so that we can determine if you are a good fit for the community and are capable of meeting our requirements for membership.  The trainee period lasts 21 days and officially begins once you have been both given the trainee role on Discord and signed up on the forums.  During these 21 days you will be assigned a mentor who acts as a liaison between you and the moderation staff.  As a trainee you are expected to both view the forums and be active in a voice channel on Discord a minimum of twice a week for those three week (doing the minimum does not guarantee completion so aiming for the minimum is not advised). Trainees also must have an active forum account by the end of their first week.  If you have met these requirements at the end of your trainee period, you will be given membership and be able to take advantage of the relaxed activity requirements.

Your Mentor
Once your trainee period has begun, you will be assigned a mentor.  Your mentor is a volunteer veteran member who is also a member of one or more of your divisions.  Your mentor will instruct you to read our code of conduct and make a post in this sub-forum introducing yourself.  You should direct most of your questions regarding the ins and outs of the community to your mentor, who will either answer your question or find someone who can.

How to be active
One thing you should be aware of as a new trainee is our definition of the term "active."  We define active as the following:

  • Being visible on Discord
  • Coming on to the various voice channels
  • Playing with other members in-game
  • Logging into the forum and viewing topics

The area that most new trainee struggle with is the playing in-game portion.  A simple remedy is to come into the General Discussion voice channel, find out what people are playing, and ask if you can join them or if they are interested in playing with you.  Do not expect these players to seek you out or to just randomly move into division specific channels, you will need to put some work in to find people to play with initially.

Hopefully, this post helps clarify the most important aspects of the community for you.  If you have any further questions, please contact your mentor or a member of mod staff.
